Cavern Rock Park

Weymouth, MA

By Laurie Corbett, Assistant Publisher, Macaroni Kid Weymouth October 12, 2020

Cavern Rock Park is a really neat park owned by the Town of Weymouth. We had never heard of it until this week, and my father in law, who lived across Whitman Pond from it in the 1970s had no idea it existed. The piece of land was purchased by the town in 1968 and is used for passive recreation - walking, wildlife viewing, and bike riding. The park is 38 acres in total and sits near Whitman Pond but there are no views of the pond from the park.

The main loop trail is .7 miles long and is well marked with white blazes. The trail is steep in some places, and not stroller friendly but my 6, 8, and 10-year-olds had no problems with it and really loved all of the rocky outcrops throughout the park.
